Early Childhood Development Programs

Early Childhood Development Services at Citrus Health Network work  in  collaboration  with  local  child  care  centers  to  assist  in  identifying  and  overcoming social, emotional, and learning concerns in young children from birth to age five.  The Citrus Early  Childhood  Development  staff  works  with  teachers  and  staff  in  the  child  care  centers on professional development as well as classroom strategies that help children succeed with healthy social, emotional and learning development.  For children with additional needs, Citrus makes referrals and direct connections to community-based services.

 

Parent & Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)                                                    

An evidenced-based program for children 2-6 which addresses behavioral and defiance issues by teaching parents skills to reduce conflict and stress.  Brief intervention consists of an average of 10- 20 in-office sessions working closely with the child and parent to improve behavior and compliance. Teacher & Child Interaction Training Universal (TCIT-U)

A three year Community Research Demonstration  project which began in 2017 and is funded by The Children’s Trust  provides professional development for strengthening teachers’ relationships skills to promote children’s social emotional development  using National Best Practice TCIT-U approach in a select number of early care centers in central areas of Miami Dade.  For more information, email Emma Muñoz, LCSW at: emmad@citrushealth.org

 


Neighborhood Place for Early Head Start (NPEHS) - Social Emotional Supports

Provides child and classrooms specific observations, individualized supports, referrals, care coordination and staff training at all NPEHS centers.  Services are evidence-based and tailored to NPEHS centers and children ages birth to three.  Referrals for this program are received directly from the Early Learning Coalition.  For additional information, email Susan Galceran-Millan, LCSW at: susang@citrushealth.com   

 


Developmental Screening  Follow Up & Individualized Supports

County-wide program that provides screening follow up, individualized supports and early intervention to children ages zero to five who are participating in the School Readiness Program and need developmental screening follow up and individualized supports, consultation, and referral assistance.  The goal is to ensure children are identified early, receive the supports they need and are ready to learn upon entering kindergarten.  A limited number of private (non- School Readiness Program) slots are also available.  For additional information, email Susan Galceran-Millan, LCSW at: susang@citrushealth.com
